Horses and Magnetic Healing For Arthritis

May of the diseases we humans suffer from can also be found in the animals closest to us. Not one of the nicest things we have in common with other animals. When it comes to arthritis it has some benefits because some of the treatments that work for us also work for horses with arthritis. Horses just can not sit down to get some pressure relief from the joints so they suffer a lot more from arthritis then, for example, humans or dogs.

Never go passed you vet

Although magnetic healing for arthritis in horses has shown to improve the quality of life for other horses, that it means the magnets take the place of a veterinarian. Magnetic healing for arthritis in horses works best in conjunction with conventional veterinary care, not in place of conventional veterinary care. Arthritis in horses only gets worse in horses if ignored. Always call the vet if your horse exhibits pain.

Proof is in the pudding

Most of the information that you will find about the benefits of magnetic healing for arthritis in horses is anecdotal. That means not a lot of scientific clinical studies have been done. In one 1998 study that was done on six horses to see if magnets helped increase the circulation of the cannon bone, the magnets didn’t show any marked improvement. However, there are many horsemen and women who will swear by magnetic healing for arthritis in horses.

How to apply

There are two kinds of magnetic healing for arthritis in horses. The first kind (the usual kind) is with the use of static (or permanent) magnets. We do this when we wear a magnetic bracelet to help arthritis in our wrists. Magnets are lined in leg wraps or blankets and placed on the horse’s sore spots for a certain amount of time.

The second kind of magnetic healing in arthritis in horses is more complicated. It’s called pulsed electromagnetic field magnets (often called PEFM for short). The magnets are only on the horse for a half hour or a full hour. The magnets are hooked up to gizmos called “coils” that create a pulsing using electricity. If your horse won’t stay still, PEFM is not an option.

Contrary to PEFM, where the equipment alone costs thousands of dollars, static magnetic healing for arthritis is very affordable. You should have a word with your vet to hear his or her recommendations over this treatment or the person who has such a machine in your neighbourhood. Just keep in the back of your head the fact that there is no known effect, negative or positive, when the magnetic healing for arthritis treatment is applied.
